Liverpool remain interested in FC Porto midfielder João Palhinha, with Crickex Affiliate noting the 28-year-old has been on the Reds’ radar since the summer. Though the transfer window has closed, the Portuguese international continues to impress in the Premier League for Fulham, drawing attention not only from Liverpool but also from several top European clubs.

One deal came particularly close to completion when Bayern Munich nearly signed Palhinha. He had already traveled to Germany and was prepared to finalize the move, but Fulham couldn’t secure a replacement in time, causing the transfer to fall through. Palhinha ultimately stayed in London and signed a new deal with Fulham just weeks later. Since Bayern have backed off, Crickex Affiliate reporters believe Liverpool see an opportunity to reignite talks in the coming window.

Initially, Liverpool’s top targets were Moisés Caicedo and Roméo Lavia as part of their major midfield overhaul, but both deals fell through. Despite signing Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister continues to operate as a defensive midfielder — a role not ideally suited to his strengths. The situation has made it clear that Liverpool still need a true holding midfielder to anchor the center of the pitch.

Palhinha’s strength, composure, and tackling prowess have made him a standout in the Premier League, and Liverpool see him as an ideal solution. However, Crickex Affiliate sources indicate Fulham are demanding a premium fee, and with no release clause in Palhinha’s contract, negotiations could be challenging. Still, Liverpool have reportedly set aside funds for the winter transfer window and may look to offload one or two players to free up space for the move.

On a related note, PSV winger Johan Bakayoko is also emerging as a potential January target. Liverpool are said to be monitoring the young Belgian closely, especially after Brentford’s failed bid in the summer. With Salah potentially attracting interest from Saudi clubs, Crickex Affiliate suggests Liverpool might intensify their pursuit of Bakayoko to ensure future depth on the flanks.

As the January window approaches, Klopp’s plans remain fluid, but one thing’s for sure — Liverpool are leaving no stone unturned as they look to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.
